What Does This Mean?
There is much risk associated with building industrial control panels, whether that’s risk to human life, equipment or the environment, the margin for error is small. To ensure that panels are built correctly and safely, governing bodies require control panels be certified by a qualified inspector and that components used are built and certified to the quality demanded by the governing jurisdiction.
Crossroad Energy Solutions has gone through the process of becoming a certified member of Intertek’s Custom Panel Builder’s Program. This means that we can build and certify industrial control panels in-house without needing a third-party inspector to oversee our work.
We follow strict guidelines and quality control policies set out by Intertek that ensures we are building our industrial control panels to the standards laid out above for Canada and the USA.
Some of these guidelines include:
- Strict record keeping procedures including panel drawings, pictures, and serial numbers for control panel traceability
- Strict QA/QC checks to ensure the panel is built and wired correctly
- Subject to routine and surprise inspections from Intertek
- Regular training & upgrading of skills and certifications
Advantage to Engaging a Certified Panel Shop
Working with a panel shop that is certified reduces your risk. If a panel shop is certified, they will be following similar rules and building their panels to the appropriate standards. It is a good choice to work only with those shops that are certified by an appropriate governing body.
